Military Relocation

Certified to help.

Our community and country thank you for your commitment and your service.

A military relocation professional is a real estate agent who has
received specialized training and certification in helping military
families with their housing needs. This training covers various
aspects of the military lifestyle, including the unique benefits and
challenges faced by military families when buying or renting a home.

Military relocation professionals help military buyers by providing them with expert guidance and support throughout the home buying process. They understand the specific requirements and restrictions that come with military life and can provide customized solutions to meet their clients’ needs. Real estate agents who become certified military relocation professionals receive additional training and education on topics such as VA loans, military housing allowances, and the relocation process. They also have access to resources and networks specifically geared towards assisting military families with their real estate needs.

In summary, a military relocation professional is a real estate agent with specialized training and certification to better assist military families in their housing needs, by providing expert
guidance and support throughout the home buying process.

Whether you are new to the area or were stationed here and are ready to call Skagit or Island County home, my experience will make the journey seamless. My VA Military Residential Specialist (VAMRES) certifications combined with my Military Relocation Professional (MRP) certification has you covered with the additional training I have received and resources I have access to.

I am also Cartus, USAA, and a NFCU certified agent and understand the ins and outs of obtaining a mortgage as a veteran. In recognition for your service, there are a number of different programs that different lenders in the area offer, that allow you to get a rebate after closing. I can also construct your offer so that your closing costs are covered and in many cases, you’ll have very little out of pocket expenses. Please contact me to learn more and for me to put you in touch with lenders who can provide you with the best program for your requirements.

Below is information on a few of those options:

  • VA Home Loans – A VA loan allows veterans to borrow up to 100% of the home value (as long as the sales price doesn’t exceed the appraised value) with no private mortgage insurance premium required. The maximum loan amount is determined by property location (in 2015, this limit for a single unit in Skagit and Island Counties was $417,000). These loans are usually provided by private banks and are backed by the secretary of Veterans Affairs who guarantees the loan. Since they are guaranteed by the government, there are strict qualification requirements. I am very familiar with these requirements and special challenges and can navigate a transaction to completion, avoiding the predictable potholes along the way.

Did you know that you can reuse this benefit and you don’t have to be a first time homebuyer?

  • Navy Federal Military Choice Mortgage – NFCU offers VA loans as well as its own conventional loan products which allows veterans to borrow up to 100% of the home value with no private mortgage insurance.
  • USAA – USAA is dedicated to helping military manage their finances and provides VA loans as well as conventional fixed rate loans and jumbo loans.
  • Local Banks and Lenders – Additional lending resources are available. You don’t have to go through NFCU or USAA to get a VA loan. Put my knowledge to work and allow me to guide you through the advantages and disadvantages of each to help you find the loan that is right for you. Many local lenders can help with VA and other loans and might be a better option for your individual financing needs.

If you are considering any of these options please start with me. I would be happy to put you directly in touch with a lender who can outline your options and get you started on the right track.
